Rules for Publication
First: Scientific Rules:
- The research must be focused on Islamic sciences and related fields.
- The research must be original and not previously published.
- The research must adhere to the rules and methodology of scientific research.
- No more than two researchers may participate in a single article.
- The article must have a word count of no less than 4,000 words and no more than 10,000 words.
- The title page must include research details in both Arabic and English, including: (title of the research, researcher's name, academic degree, and scientific reference).
- The research must include an abstract (150-250 words) in both Arabic and English.
- The abstract should be followed by 5-7 relevant keywords.
- The research must be submitted as a single file containing:
- Title page: including the researcher’s details in Arabic and English.
- Abstract: including importance, objectives, and methodology briefly without headings.
- Introduction: including research questions, importance, necessity, and objectives, along with previous studies and new general additions.
- Main body: containing the main sections related to the topic.
- Conclusion: including results, recommendations, and suggestions.
- References: listed in Arabic or English, arranged alphabetically.
Second: Technical Rules:
- Use the "Traditional Arabic" font for Arabic text in size 14 (regular) for the body, size 14 (bold) for headings, size 12 (regular) for footnotes, size 10 (regular) for tables and figures, and bold for table headers and captions.
- If some words cannot be written in "Traditional Arabic," use any other suitable font.
- Use "Times New Roman" for English text in size 10-12 (regular) for the body and abstract, bold for headings, size 10 (regular) for footnotes, tables, and figures, and bold for table headers and captions.
- Margins should be 2.5 cm on the top, bottom, left, and right, with line spacing set to 1.15. The page size should be A4 (21 x 29.7 cm).
- Quranic verses should be written in Uthmani script, using the Madani Mushaf computer program.
- Use decorative brackets ﴿ ﴾ for Quranic verses, quotation marks « » for Hadith, and " " for literal quotations.
- Footnotes should appear at the bottom of each page with automatic numbering.
- Each page should have its own numbering.
Third: Citation Documentation:
Citations from books and other information sources should be documented in the footnotes as follows:
A/ Books:

Begin with the author's name, followed by a comma, then the year of publication, followed by a comma, the book title, followed by a comma, the edition number, followed by a comma, the place of publication, followed by a colon, the publisher, followed by a comma, and finally the volume and page number separated by a colon.
Example: Abu Bakr al-Kasani, 2008, Baday' al-Sanayi' fi Tartib al-Sharai', 2nd ed., Beirut: Dar al-Risala, 2: 104. -
If citing a source without a date or edition, replace the year with (D.T) to indicate no date, and replace the edition number with (D.T) to indicate no edition.
Example: Abu Bakr al-Kasani, (D.T), Baday' al-Sanayi' fi Tartib al-Sharai', (D.T), Beirut: Dar al-Risala, 2: 104.
B/ Published Research in Journals:
- Begin with the author's name, followed by a comma, then the publication date in parentheses, followed by a comma, the research title, followed by a comma, the journal name in italics, followed by the issue number, and finally the page number.
Example: Abdul Rahman Shah, 2021, Tabarruk bil-Nabi (peace be upon him), Shari'iyat Journal 25, p: 154.
C/ For multiple references from different authors:
- Separate the references with a semicolon.
Example: Al-Sarakhsi, Al-Mabsut, 10: 2; Al-Shafi'i, Al-Um, 5: 23.
D/ If a reference is repeated multiple times:
- Shorten the citation by just mentioning the author's surname, followed by a comma, the book title, followed by a comma, then the volume and page number.
Example: Al-Nasafi, Kanz al-Daqa'iq, 2: 36.
E/ If a book has more than one author:
- If there are two authors, write both names separated by a comma. If there are three or more authors, write the first author's name followed by "et al.," then the publication year, followed by a comma, the book title, followed by a comma, the edition number, the place of publication, followed by a colon, the publisher, followed by a comma, and finally the page number.
Example: Khalid al-Mohammadi, Abdul Rahman al-Ahmadi, 2023, Adwa' al-Tarbiyah al-Islamiyah, 1st ed., Beirut: Dar al-Risala, p: 240.
F/ If the material is obtained from a website:
- Document the source as usual, followed by: retrieved on / / and the full URL.
Example: Ashabullah Awab, The Importance of Methods in the Educational and Pedagogical Process, retrieved on 10/4/2024, https://rjsp.org/the-importance-of-methods-in-the-educational-and-pedagogical-process/.
Fourth: List of Sources and References:
- A list of Arabic sources and references should be attached to the research or article, arranged alphabetically by the author's surname, as follows:
A/ Books:
- Author’s surname, first and second names. Title of the book, edition number, place of publication: publisher, year of publication.
Example: Al-Sumiri, Abu Abdullah Hasan ibn Ali, Akhbar Abu Hanifah wa Ashabih, 1st ed., Beirut: Dar al-Risala, 2007.
B/ Journals:

Author’s surname, first and second names. Title of the research, journal name in italics, followed by the issue number, then the publication date.
Example: Awab, Ashabullah Al-Safi. Al-Manhaj al-Talaqi wa Dawabit al-Ta'allum 'inda Umm al-Mu'minin Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), Scientific Journal Performance 6, 2020. -
The list of Arabic sources and references should be followed by a list of English sources arranged alphabetically by the author's surname.
Fifth: Publication Fees in the Journal:
- Publication in this journal is free, as the Islamic Studies Journal - Kabul University (jis.edu.af) does not charge fees for peer review or publication.

Sixth: Peer Review Committee in the Journal:
- The Islamic Studies Journal - Kabul University (jis.edu.af) includes an international peer review committee composed of PhD holders from various global universities to review research submitted in Arabic. The editorial board oversees the review and evaluation process for submitted papers.

Peer Review Procedures:
Stages of receiving and referring research for review:
- The researcher registers on the journal's website using this link: Register on the site.
- After registering, the researcher submits their paper electronically via the journal's website using this link: Submit a publication request in both (Word) and (PDF) formats.
- The editorial board has the right to conduct an initial review of the research and determine its eligibility for review or to reject it.
- If the research is deemed suitable for review, it will be sent to at least two reviewers.
- When the reviewers complete their reports, the researcher will be informed of the review results, which will include one of the following outcomes:
- Acceptance of the research for immediate publication or after making modifications.
- Revision of the research, followed by re-review.
- Rejection of publication.
