The Journal of Islamic Studies, Kabul University (JIS) highly values the contribution of editors and reviewers in maintaining the quality, credibility, and academic integrity of the journal. Editors and reviewers play a central role in ensuring that all published research meets recognized scholarly and ethical standards.

The journal requests that editors and reviewers adhere to the following guidelines during the editorial and peer review process:

Confidentiality

Editors and reviewers must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. Manuscripts, data, and related correspondence must not be shared, discussed, or disclosed to any third party without authorization from the journal. Information obtained through the peer review process must not be used for personal, academic, or professional advantage.

Objectivity and Fairness

Reviews and editorial decisions should be conducted objectively, fairly, and without personal bias. Manuscripts should be evaluated solely on their academic merit, originality, clarity, methodological rigor, relevance to the journal’s scope, and contribution to the field of Islamic studies.

Constructive and Professional Feedback

Reviewers are expected to provide clear, detailed, and constructive comments that help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts. Feedback should be professional, respectful, and supported by academic reasoning. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate and unacceptable.

Conflict of Interest

Editors and reviewers must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that could influence their evaluation of a manuscript. Individuals with conflicts of interest should decline participation in the review or editorial process.

Timeliness

Editors and reviewers are expected to complete their evaluations within the timelines specified by the journal. If a reviewer is unable to complete the review within the requested period, the journal should be informed promptly so that alternative arrangements can be made.

Ethical Oversight

Editors and reviewers should remain attentive to potential ethical concerns, including plagiarism, duplicate submission, data fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or other forms of research misconduct. Any suspected ethical issue should be reported confidentially to the editorial office.

Academic Quality and Integrity

Editors and reviewers are encouraged to support the publication of high-quality, original, and academically valuable research. Editorial recommendations should contribute to strengthening scholarly standards and promoting responsible academic publishing.
